Shankhpushpi
Shankhpushpi: Convolvulus Pluricaulis is a herb of choice as a brain tonic specially for the conditions of memory loss, schizophrenia, convulsions and intelligence related problems.
This herb’s powder is used to improve the intellect qualities of children. Because of the presence of abundance of the gray matters in the intestines- It also regulates the functions of the digestive system. Powder herb is also an important Rasayana to be use in the mental disabilities.
Effect on Doshas:
Tridoshahar, but specially vatapittashamak. Snigdha, Pichchil, Guru Gunas and Madhur vipak makes it vatashamak, sheeta veerya – pittashamak and katu, tikta, kashaya- Kaphashamak.

- It is a brain tonic, shamak, sedative and therefore it is used in epilepsy, insomnia and giddiness.
- It reduces the severity of attacks by its prabhav (shamak) in schizophrenia
- This has peristaltic action which helps to eliminate intestinal toxins and constipation- therefore it becomes a herb of choice for treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
- It act as a diuretic due to sheeta veerya, therefore useful in dysuria and urinary tract infections.
