Patient Baseline
When Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma was diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis (AVN) Grade III, it came as a severe shock — as it does for most patients when they are suddenly told that their hip bone is dying and the only option is Total Hip Replacement (THR).
Before approaching Sukhayu Ayurved, Jaipur, he consulted multiple orthopedic surgeons, all of whom advised surgery as the inevitable solution. The idea of losing his natural joint at the age of 44 was deeply unsettling.
He came to know about Vaidya Pardeep Sharma’s approach to reversing AVN through Ayurveda and joined Sukhayu Ayurved for a comprehensive, non-surgical management plan.
Severe pain in the right hip joint, aggravated at night.
Limping gait; needed a walking stick for support.
Restricted range of motion in the hip.
MRI confirmed Avascular Necrosis of femoral head – Grade III.
Panchakarma Protocols
- Tikta Ksheer Basti: Medicated milk-based enema to nourish bone (Asthi) and marrow (Majja Dhatu), while pacifying Vata and improving microcirculation.
- Anuvasana Basti: To strengthen the supporting ligaments and prevent further degeneration.
- Abhyanga & Nadi Swedana: Daily oil massage followed by steam therapy to relieve stiffness and improve hip joint flexibility.
- Pizhichil (Kaya Seka): Warm oil streaming therapy for deep tissue nourishment and Vata pacification.
- Kashaya Dhara: Herbal decoction pouring to improve peripheral blood flow and detoxify Rakta Dhatu.
- Pinda Swedana: The mix of different types of Pinda Swedana as per the requirement of the patient.
Treatment Outcome
By the end of the second month, pain had reduced by over 50%, and the patient could walk short distances without support. Within six months, stiffness and limping almost disappeared.
Follow-up MRI revealed reversal from Grade III to Grade II, indicating regeneration and revascularization of the femoral head.
