Avascular Necrosis (AVN) 1 - Ayurvedic Treatment

What is Avascular Necrosis (AVN) 1?

AVN is a progressive condition. Left alone, the femoral head can break into fragments and collapse, ending in arthritis and, often, joint replacement. What Ayurveda offers depends almost entirely on how early you start.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can avascular necrosis be reversed with Ayurveda?

In early-stage AVN (Ficat I–II), yes — protocols that restore the bone's blood supply have been associated with documented improvement in MRI grade in published case reports. In advanced stages, the realistic goal is to arrest progression, control pain, and help you avoid or delay joint replacement.

Can AVN of the hip be treated without surgery?

Yes, particularly before the femoral head collapses. Panchakarma (mainly Basti) with targeted medicines aims to restore vasculature to the femoral head — a non-surgical route. Outcomes depend heavily on the stage at which you start, which is why early diagnosis matters so much.

How long does the treatment take?

A 16-day Panchakarma admission to begin, then home medication over roughly 18–24 months, with short review admissions every 2–3 months. AVN bone remodelling is slow — meaningful structural change is measured in months, not days.
