Trigeminal Neuralgia - Ayurvedic Treatment

What is Trigeminal Neuralgia?

The sudden facial pain of Trigeminal Neuralgia is not just a symptom- it’s an overwhelming experience that can deeply affect daily life. TN arises from irritation of the trigeminal nerve, the key nerve that carries sensations from your face, and understanding this makes the path to healing much clearer. In Ayurveda, this condition is deeply understood not just as a nerve issue, but as a severe aggravation of Vata Dosha—the biological energy that governs all movement and nervous system functions in the body. When Vata is violently disturbed, it can create spasms of pain that feel like lightning, disrupting your very life force, or Prana.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Ayurveda cure Trigeminal Neuralgia?

While "cure" is a strong word, Ayurveda is highly effective in managing TN. Our goal is significant reduction in attack frequency and intensity, extending remission periods, and improving quality of life, potentially leading to a pain-free state.

How long before I feel some relief in pain of Trigeminal neuralgia with Ayurvedic treatment?

Many patients report a subjective sense of calm and reduced intensity of pain within the first few days of Panchakarma. Significant, measurable changes typically build over 3-6 months of consistent treatment. We do have some limitation of not having any potent painkillers in Ayurveda, still working on the root cause helps us to subside the pain permanently.

Is Panchakarma safe for someone in so much pain of TM?

Absolutely. Our therapies for TN, like Shirobasti and gentle Nasya, are specifically designed to be soothing and non-invasive. We tailor every procedure to your tolerance and condition.

Can I continue my allopathic painkillers along with Ayurvedic treatment for Trigeminal Neuralgia?

Yes. Ayurvedic treatment can be integrated alongside your conventional medication. Under our guidance, the aim is often to gradually reduce your dependence on these drugs as your natural pain management improves.

Do I need to be admitted to the hospital?

For the intensive Panchakarma phase, inpatient (IPD) admission for 2-3 weeks is highly recommended for optimal, supervised results. Follow-up care continues on an OPD basis or through online consultations.

Do I really need to go for surgery in case of Trigeminal Neuralgia?

Not always. If there is some outgrowth or the big arterial loop that is pressing the ganglion of the trigeminal only then do you need to go for surgical interventions. Otherwise, there is no need to opt for surgery in the case of TM.
