Sjögren's Syndrome - Ayurvedic Treatment
What is Sjögren's Syndrome?
Sjögren’s Syndrome is not just a “dryness disease” — it is a whole-body immune imbalance that reduces natural lubrication, weakens defense mechanisms, and gradually affects the body’s vitality and comfort. Sjögren’s Syndrome is a chronic autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the glands that produce moisture—especially the salivary and tear glands. As a result, patients experience persistent dryness of eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes.
It can exist alone (primary Sjögren’s) or occur alongside other autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus (secondary Sjögren’s). Over time, the disease may also affect joints, skin, nerves, lungs, or kidneys, leading to fatigue, pain, and systemic inflammation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Ayurveda cure Sjögren’s completely?
Ayurveda focuses not on instant miracles, but on lasting transformation. Through a patient-centred, root-cause approach, it strives for long-term remission, restoration of glandular balance, relief from dryness and fatigue, and steady improvement in joint comfort and vitality. Many patients experience renewed energy, better lubrication, and an overall enhancement in their quality of life — a gentle yet profound journey toward sustained well-being. Almost all patients (not sure about ones who didnt follow up) are leading a normal life without medicines.
Do I need to admit in hospital (IPD) for the Panchakarma treatment for Sjögren’s Syndrome and for howlong?
Yes, in more than 60% cases our M.D. (Ayurveda) physicians advise for admission in IPD for Panchakarma treatments- only in case where it is required. Typically 16–21 days for intensive Panchakarma in moderate to severe cases. For milder cases, much can be done in OPD mode with periodic visits and for remote patients - online consultation is much helpful.
Will my eyes / mouth dryness improve permanently?
Improvement depends on how much glandular damage is already done. Ayurveda aims to revive residual function, protect remaining tissues, and slow further damage. Many experience lasting relief.
Can I continue my conventional medications for Sjögren’s (e.g., immunosuppressants) along with Ayurvedic treatment?
Yes — we often work in integrative mode. We make sure to avoid drug interactions or abrupt stoppage of any previous treatment/medications. The main aim is to make sure the proper treatment of the patient- credits are completely secondary.
Is there a risk of relapse after Ayurvedic therapy?
Yes, relapse is possible if diet, lifestyle, or care is neglected. That’s why maintenance protocols and follow-up support are integral parts of our plan.
How soon will I feel relief in dry eye or dry mouth condition?
Some relief in dryness, fatigue or joint symptoms may begin within 2–4 weeks, but deeper healing, immuno-modulation, and gland function improvements take several months.
